A genuine restoration by a licensed roofer typically costs $7,000 to $12,000 for an average home, depending on roof size, condition and access. Quotes under $5,000 are usually a red flag - unlicensed operators, poor materials and skipped prep that fails within a couple of years.
How much does a new roof cost?
A properly built re-roof on an average home typically runs $7,000 to $12,000 and up, while large or complex full replacements can run $30,000 to $70,000. Every Crossy's quote itemises materials and steel gauge so you can compare quotes like-for-like.
Are your quotes really free?
Yes - detailed quotes are free. We usually start with a phone estimate using satellite imagery, then confirm on site. Jobs more than 40 minutes from our Lismore, Ballina or Casino yards carry a $240 call-out fee, waived if the job goes ahead. Formal roofing or insurance reports may carry a small fee.
Why do roofing quotes vary so much between companies?
Materials, prep and licensing. Thinner steel, watered-down coatings and skipped repairs make a cheap quote possible - and a short-lived roof certain. Always compare what's itemised, check licences, and avoid anyone pushing you to sign on the spot.

Are roof restorations worth it?
If the roof structure is sound, absolutely. A proper restoration - clean, repair, re-bed, re-point and coat - costs a fraction of replacement and adds 10 to 15+ years of life, improves heat reflection, and lifts the value of the home.
How often should a roof be restored?
Most roofs benefit from restoration at the 10-15 year mark, or sooner if you can see fading, cracked tiles, rusted flashings or moss and mould taking hold. A quick inspection tells us - and you - exactly where your roof sits.
How long will a restoration last?
Done properly with IRC coatings over a fully cleaned and repaired surface, 10 to 15 years or more. IRC is Australian-made - developed in the Northern Rivers by a roofer-turned-chemist - and built for our UV and weather.
How long does a roof restoration take?
Most residential roof restorations take about 1 to 3 working days once the job starts, depending on roof size, access, weather and how much repair work is needed. Larger or more complex roofs can take longer; we confirm the expected timeframe before booking.
How quickly can you fix an urgent leak?

Is it okay to jet wash a tiled roof?
Only with the right equipment, pressure and technique - done wrong it strips surfaces and forces water under tiles. High-pressure cleaning is part of every restoration we do, handled by trained roofers, not hire-shop guesswork.

What materials do you use?
Aussie-made wherever possible: .48 gauge steel on new roofs, genuine COLORBOND®, IRC coatings on restorations, and BlueScope steel mesh gutter guard. If it's built to last, we're on board.
How long should a roof last in the first place?
A quality metal roof can run 40-70 years; tile roofs 50 years and beyond with periodic restoration. What shortens the life is deferred maintenance - small leaks, broken tiles and rusted valleys left to spread.
Do you guarantee your work?
Yes - our installs come with a full workmanship guarantee, and our guttering is warranty-backed. We stand by every job until it's done to your complete satisfaction.
Can you prep my roof for solar?
Absolutely. We coordinate with your solar installer to fit brackets first, seal every penetration, and return after the install for a free follow-up to confirm the roof is still watertight.
Insurance, Inspections & Trust
Can you help with insurance claims?
Yes. We provide professional reports for storm, hail and leak damage that support your claim, and we'll coach you on what to say when your insurer calls. Hail damage to COLORBOND® can sometimes mean an insurer-funded full replacement.
Do you offer pre-sale or pre-purchase roof inspections?
Yes - and they matter. Building and pest reports routinely miss roofing issues, and a missed roof can mean a surprise $30,000-$70,000 cost. Our independent inspections give buyers and sellers the facts early.
Are you licensed and insured?
Fully: Builder's Licence 465043C, $20 million public liability insurance, Working at Heights training and White Cards across the whole crew. All work is NCC and EPA compliant.

How does quoting and booking work?
Phone estimate first (satellite imagery helps us scope it), then an on-site visit to confirm the price. Once you're happy, a 10% deposit books you in, and we letterbox your neighbours before we start.
What are your hours?
